The AHF is developing creative and exciting public education programmes to encourage the proper disposal of solid waste. We work with local schools, colleges and communities to change behavior and incite local action. Our efforts include beach cleanups, presentations and incentive-driven campaigns to encourage best practice and environmental stewardship. The foundation will be partnering with a number of strategic partners, including Parley for the Oceans to implement a pilot recycling and waste management program in Portland.
Parley Ocean Plastic Program
Parley for the Oceans is a collaboration network of creators, thinkers and leaders who come together to raise awareness for the beauty and fragility of our oceans and partner on projects that can end their destruction.
With its global partner network, Parley addresses the complex threat of ocean plastic pollution through the multidisciplinary initiatives of its Ocean Plastic Program and implementation of the Parley A.I.R. Strategy:
AVOID plastic wherever possible. If not, use recycling plastic.
INTERCEPT existing plastic waste and prevent it from entering the oceans. Retrieve plastic debris from coastlines, rivers and high seas.
REDESIGN plastic-centric product categories and reinvent the material itself.
We see the key to the solution in collaboration. Nobody can solve this alone.
